Hi! I’m Jess Price, a proud mom, designer, small business owner, community volunteer, and someone who loves this town deeply. I’m running for Borough Council because I believe Mount Arlington deserves real representation; leadership that listens, collaborates, and acts with transparency. I’m not a career politician. I’m a neighbor, a parent, and someone who’s rolled up their sleeves (literally) to get things done for our community.
I was born and raised in Jefferson Township, with Lake Hopatcong at the center of my childhood, swimming, boating, and soaking up all the best parts of lake life. After graduating from Parsons School of Design in NYC, I built a career as a designer for Macy’s Inc., later became a professor at FIT, and eventually launched my own graphic design studio, a small business I continue to run today.
I spent my early adulthood in Hoboken and Jersey City, but when I was pregnant with my second son, I felt a strong pull back to my roots, to small-town community life. In 2017, my husband John and I found our forever home in the Bertrand Island neighborhood of Mount Arlington. For the past seven years, we’ve been raising our two boys, Jonah and Julian, along with our two wild pups, Maverick and Lola.
Through school, sports, and local events, I’ve had the joy of getting to know so many amazing individuals and families, each with their own perspectives and stories. That sense of connection is what drives me. In 2022, I was appointed to the Recreation Committee, where I had the chance to dive into how our town functions behind the scenes. One of my proudest accomplishments was starting Mount Arlington’s NFL Flag Football League. It took coordination with my committee teammates, the Borough, the DPW, the NFL Flag program, and fellow parents to bring this vision to life. I was out there painting football fields on weekends, organizing schedules, and doing whatever it took to give our kids something new and exciting, not just for Mount Arlington families, but for Roxbury residents too. That was a fun role reversal since it’s usually the other way around. That experience showed me what’s possible when we think creatively, work together, and challenge the “this is how it’s always been” mentality.
But what really pushed me to run for Borough Council was the school funding crisis. Like so many parents, I’m deeply concerned. Our schools are facing real challenges, and I believe our Borough has a responsibility to step up and support them. I’m committed to working with our community to build awareness, support a crucial school funding referendum, and ensure our kids, and our property values, are protected.
Jay Decker and I are running to give Mount Arlington something it hasn’t had in a long time: a real choice. We believe it’s time for a council that makes decisions with the community, not for it. You should be part of the decisions that affect your home, your family, and your future.
If you see me around town, say hi. Let’s talk about what matters to you.
